Who’s eligible?
- Families living with child up to age 22 with autism
- Family’s household income must not exceed 300% of the poverty level
2024 Poverty Guidelines

- Families must live in one of the following Massachusetts counties: Barnstable, Bristol, Essex, Middlesex, Norfolk, Plymouth, Suffolk, or Worcester
- Families are asked to provide a reference in the application — please let your reference know in advance that someone from SWI will be contacting them
*Here at Salt Water Initiative, we realize that sometimes a child with Autism may not be comfortable in a hotel setting. Our donated vacations are for the family to use in the best way they see fit.
What’s required if a vacation is awarded?
- Transportation is not included. If awarded a vacation, families must have their own vehicle or make their own transportation arrangements.
- Two-night hotel stay, including taxes, room cost, and fees will be covered by Salt Water Initiative. Hotels may require families to provide a credit card upon arrival for any additional costs such as room service or gift shop purchases.
- Families are not permitted to bring pets during vacation weekends, regardless of hotel/resort policies. Only service dogs, as defined by applicable law, are permitted.
